Cubs have a great deal of fun whilst in the Pack. We do lots of different things and end up making lots of new friends.

During our meetings we get to play games, learn to make fires and how to cook on them, go on treasure hunts, painting, map-reading, first-aid and much more. We also go on camp and discover lots of things about nature, plants, animals and food.

Most of all we like being together and having fun. Cubs will also have the opportunity to gain a wide range of badges in the pack or at home. These are given in recognition of taking part in specific activities and the effort they have made.

Cubs move up to Scouts shortly before or after their 11th birthday.

Organising a Cub Scout Pack

A Cub Pack is led by a Cub Scout Leaders. Most leaders have been given a jungle book name (Baloo, Kaa, Bagheera, Rikki Tikki Tavi etc). The pack is divided into small groups which we call a six.

The Six is lead by an older Cub called a Sixer. Their Job is to look after you and the rest of the six. The Sixer has a seconder who helps them to look after the Six and stands in for them when they are not there.

The Pack has traditional ceremonies that the Cubs take part in at the start and end of our evenings as well as other special events. One of these includes the investiture when you become an official member of The Dutch Scout Association.  At this time you are asked to make a promise (see below).  This ceremony normally takes place 4 to 6 weeks after you first come to Cubs.
